Soltas Energy Investment Accelerates Aegis Solar’s New England Expansion

Backed by Soltas, Industry Veteran Aegis Solar Achieves Critical Mass in the Northeast Commercial Solar Market

NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2011 – Soltas Energy Corporation, established by cleantech private equity firm Barron Partners to accelerate and finance the installation of commercial solar power projects across the U.S., announced today that it has taken a majority position in Aegis Solar Energy of Branford, CT.

Founded in 1989, Aegis Solar has completed over 400 solar-installation projects across Connecticut and Massachusetts and maintains close relationships with contractors, architects, homeowners and businesses in the region.

“Aegis Solar adds an important regional component to Soltas Energy’s national rollout, helping us to realize our vision of an ‘America Repowered’,” Soltas Energy CEO Andrew Barron Worden said. “Founder Chris Lenda and his organization have built one of the most respected solar companies in New England. Aegis’ experience and local credibility gives Soltas Energy a competitive advantage in New England where commercial-scale customers are eager to reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.”

Aegis founder and CEO Chris Lenda said. “Our expertise and reputation backed by Soltas Energy’s resources together combine to accelerate our expansion in the New England market.”

A recent example of the region’s support of a viable renewable energy infrastructure, the Connecticut legislature recently passed a comprehensive energy bill that supports and incents the adoption of renewable-energy technologies.

“With Soltas Energy behind us, Aegis is in a very strong position to take part in an upswing in demand for solar-energy systems driven by Connecticut’s energy policy. We expect to grow our business significantly as a result,” Mr. Lenda said

Aegis Solar joins Soltas Energy alongside two other solar  companies, Choice Solar Solutions, Inc., Nashville, Tenn., and Sunergy America of Wall, N.J., establishing Soltas Energy as a solar provider throughout the northeast and middle-atlantic regions.  Soltas Energy has extensive national project financing capabilities and is actively evaluating regional companies located in additional markets, such as the Southwest, to add to its team of solar companies.
