Worden of Barron Partners, Keynote Speaker at NYC Cleantech Opportunities, Declares Solar the Power Play

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Worden of Barron Partners, Keynote Speaker at NYC Cleantech Opportunities, Declares Solar the Power Play

New York, New York – June 24, 2011 –

As keynote speaker at NYC Cleantech Opportunities, a forum held last week in New York City on alternative energy strategies hosted

by HodgsonRuss LLP a law firm with more than 200 attorneys in seven offices, Andrew Barron Worden, CEO of Barron Partners, declared

the solar space to be the most exciting in cleantech investing.

Mr. Worden told an audience of venture capitalists,  investors, and company management that by investing in the solar downstream market,

Barron Partners is participating in one of the biggest infrastructure builds of our time.

Mr. Worden said that the cost of producing solar power has been on a dramatic downward trend and will continue to fall. “I used to think

PV [photovoltaic] was too expensive, but the Chinese have a way of making things cheaper and cheaper all the time and then the quality

eventually gets there, and that’s a pretty incredible combination. “

Mr. Worden said that while part of the reason solar currently works is because of federal and in some cases, state, incentives, the

achievement of grid parity without the incentives is destined to happen within the next decade.

Mr. Worden framed the opportunity in solar with a question. “Where do you want to play in this thing? “The real game is where solar electricity rates get below retail electricity rates, enough that you’re making a 25% ROC, then you can bring in a debt mechanism- what we’re calling “solar bonds”- with a 7% coupon.” Mr. Worden said this new financial product, to be issued by Barron’s multiple portfolio companies, will help to finance the U.S. solar infrastructure build. “Then it’s really going to really scale.”
